How To Have A Stress Free Holiday – Step 2

Be Unapologetically YourSELF

Embrace your SELF, your weirdness, your flaws, your dreams…the things that make you who you are.

Don’t know who YOU are? That’s okay! You don’t have to ‘fake it’ or be something you think others want you to be. I give you permission to simply be your confused self.

Don’t know what you think or believe? That’s okay! You don’t have to have all the answers to “What are you going to major in?” “What do you want to do when you grow up?” “Why are you not working in your career?” “Are you going to have kids?” “Why are you single?” You don’t owe anyone an answer. And you don’t have to agree with the majority. I give you permission to be the small minority who thinks differently, questions everything, thinks outside of the box and sometimes doesn’t know what the fuck you’re doing with your life. You deserve respect regardless.

Don’t love the Holidays? That’s okay! There is a place for you at the table. You don’t have to love the Holidays to enjoy being with people during them, or hating being with people but enjoying the food. I give you permission to join in and even verbalize your dismay for the Holidays and eat till your full. If anyone expresses your dismay ruins their Holiday, that sounds a lot like it’s THEIR problem.

You don’t owe an apology for being your SELF.

You don’t owe an apology for your own confusion about life.

You don’t owe an apology for thinking differently than the majority and you certainly don’t owe an apology for disliking the Holidays.

The only thing you owe an apology for is if you are intentionally a douchebag towards others. There is an appropriate way to stand your ground and there is an inappropriate way.

I give you permission to be your SELF, even if it makes the people around you uncomfortable. Their uncomfortableness is NOT your problem.

But please make sure you are safe.

Not everyone is safe to be themselves around others; in that case I am so sorry you’re experiencing that and if that is the case I give you permission to not go! Give yourself permission to break the cycle!
